Tokyo - the largest city in the world, famous for high-tech and as a financial centre, a place of longing for many Japanese and migrant workers from Southeast Asia, notorious for its debauched nightlife.

Filipino journalist Victor Balmori is thrown into this turbulent scene when he is assigned to cover the murder of Filipino hostess Marlene Valez for a colleague. She worked in a nightclub in Roppongi, one of Tokyo's major entertainment districts.

During his investigations, Balmori is confronted with the peculiarities of the Japanese police system and the everyday racism in Japan, in addition to the darker sides of big city life.

After a long time, the UniTheater Karlsruhe finally has a production in English in its programme again, which is even celebrating its European premiere here - until now, the play has only been staged in Tokyo.
