The focus topic of this year’s Palladio Days is "Performance Prediction of Software on Virtualised Resources". Raffaela Mirandola from Politechnico di Milano will present the keynote "A journey across three decades of software performance engineering approaches". 17.11.-18.11.2011 (9:00-19:00) Forschungszentrum Informatik (FZI) Haid-und-Neu-Str. 10-14 76131 Karlsruhe Goals: The prediction of software quality (e.g. performance, reliability and maintainability) based on software architectures is useful in many software development scenarios, such as support for design decisions, resource dimensioning or scalability analysis. The open source tool Palladio can be seen as an “software architecture simulator”. Palladio includes a metamodel for specifying software architectures (Palladio Component Model, PCM), a simulator (SimuCom), and a set of analytical solvers to gather simulation data on different software quality attributes. By its flexible design, extensive documentation, and high number of industrial case studies, Palladio is a mature platform to be utilised by other developers and scientists to explore further possibilities of modelling and simulating architectures. There are several dimensions of building on Palladio: extending Palladio for specific application domains, such as embedded systems, adding analyses for additional quality metrics (such as maintainability) or using Palladio for non-software architectures (e.g., production plants or logistics). Therefore, the Palladio Days 2011 have the goal to bring together practitioners using Palladio and researchers who intend to work on Palladio as well as those who drive the Palladio project.
