Large Language Models in Science - Hype or Future?

Mittwoch, 16. September 2026, 19:00-20:30
Triangel Karlsruhe

Large Language Models like ChatGPT, Gemini and DeepSeek are not only becoming parts of our daily lives but also part of how we do science. However, it is currently very hard to estimate what influence LLMs will have in natural sciences. Will they have a lasting impact on how we do science or are the expectations exaggerated and won't be fulfilled anytime soon? To what extend do they influence, accelerate, or even drive scientific progress in the future? As part of our AIMat Summer School "Machine Learning for Molecules", we would like to discuss these and other questions with our speakers, followed by engaging in a conversation with the audience in an informal get-together.
