In the current university ranking of the Center for University De-velopment (CHE), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is rated very positively by its students: In the categories of “Teaching Offers”, “Supervision by Teachers”, “Lecturers”, and “Overall Studies Situation”, the KIT bachelor’s and master’s programs in mathematics are ranking in the top group. Also the infrastructure, including the “Libraries”, “IT Equipment”, and “Rooms”, are rated excellent by the students. Hence, the subject of mathematics has reached the top group in seven categories.
The CHE University Ranking will be published on Tuesday, May 05, in the ZEIT Studienführer 2015/16.
Apart from the judgment of students, the CHE also compiles data on its own, for example, on research strength or practical relevance. In all three research categories assessed (third-party funding, doctorates, and publications), informatics is in the top group. The master’s program in informatics is also top in the category of “International Orientation”. KIT sports sciences succeed in bridging the gap between science and practice: In the categories of “Job Orientation” and “Scientific Publications”, the program has reached the top group.
Every year, the CHE University Ranking newly evaluates one third of the disciplines. In 2015, these were physics, mathematics, informatics, pharmaceutics, geography, geosciences, sports, care, medicine, and dental medicine as well as political science.
In these areas, KIT offers programs in informatics, mathematics, physics, geosciences, geography, and sports sciences.
The CHE University Ranking covers more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Apart from criteria relating to studies, teaching, equipment, and research, the ranking is based on judgments of stu-dents regarding the conditions of the studies at their university.
The current CHE University Ranking will be published on May 05, 2015 in the latest issue of the ZEIT Studienführer. It is now available online at www.ranking.zeit.de.
