Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board monitors the development and profiling of KIT. It creates framework conditions to strengthen KIT’s performance and competitiveness. Among others, the Supervisory Board elects the full-time members of the Executive Board and adopts the Structure and Development Plan as well as the construction plan.
Executive Board
The Executive Board is responsible for KIT fulfilling its mission and for its strategic orientation vis à vis the Supervisory Board, politics, administration, industry, and society. Among others, the Executive Board is in charge of appointment procedures, the Economic and Finance Plan, and the distribution of funding to the Divisions, administration, and infrastructure facilities.
Heads of Divisions
KIT's scientific disciplines are organized in five divisions. They combine research, teaching, and innovation of the institutes, KIT departments, and Helmholtz programs assigned to them. Each division is under the direction of a head, which is supported by a council.
KIT Senate
In accordance with the KIT Act, the KIT Senate decides on decisive matters of research, teaching, studies, and advanced training and education. Among others, it confirms the election of the Members of the Executive Board and comments on the Structure and Development Plan. In addition, it advises the Commission of Funding Partners, the Supervisory Board, and the Executive Board on important scientific and technical issues.
Convention
The convention represents the interests of the scientific and technical as well as academic staff of the KIT.
Staff Representation
The interests of the KIT staff are represented by the staff council, the youth and trainee representatives and the representatives for disabled employees.
