Opening of the exhibition „Wer entscheidet denn sowas? Endlager und Demokratie“ ("Who decides that? Repositories and democracy")

Thursday, 04 September 2025, 18:00-21:00
ITAS Foyer, Karlstr. 11, 76133 Karlsruhe

The waste of the nuclear age, i.e. spent fuel rods from nuclear power plants and other radioactive materials, must be stored safely in Germany for a million years. High-level radioactive waste is to be stored deep underground - securely sealed and inaccessible to future generations. But who actually decides where and how such a storage facility is created?

The exhibition „Wer entscheidet denn sowas? Endlager und Demokratie“ ("Who decides that? Repositories and democracy") by the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at KIT invites you to take a closer look at this question.

Cooperation partners are the Institute for Nuclear Waste Management at KIT, Kerntechnische Entsorgung Karlsruhe GmbH (KTE) and the KIT-Center for Humans and Technology.

To mark the opening, ITAS invites you to a discussion event (in German langugage!) on Thursday, 4 September 2025, at 6 pm.

Registration is required for this event. See link below!
