In the current university ranking of WirtschaftsWoche, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is ranked in the top group in all subjects relating to engineering sciences. In informatics, business engineering, and electrical engineering, KIT reaches second places. In mechanical engineering, it is ranked in third position. The rankings are based on interviews of HR managers of large and medium-sized German companies.

The survey confirms that digitization presently is of highest importance to HR managers. Specialists who are trained well in this area, hence, are in high demand. KIT graduates in informatics convince the HR managers and reach place two in Germany, as do the alumni in business engineering and electrical engineering. The third place in mechanical engineering completes the very good results of KIT in engineering sciences. Another top ten position is reached by KIT natural sciences with place eight.

For the 2016 WirtschaftsWoche University Ranking, 540 HR managers of companies were interviewed by the Universum consulting company. The results of the survey reflect the HR managers’ opinions as to which universities and universities of applied sciences provide an education that is tailored best to the needs of companies. Multiple answers were possible.
