For decades, the topic of “political mandate” has been a recurring point of debate between policymakers and student bodies. In this workshop we look at the legal foundations and examine, through real precedents, what scope of action student representations have—and where the limits of their political work lie. What exactly are the “general-political mandate” and the “university-political mandate”? Where do the boundaries begin and end? And how can student representatives act within them?
