Reading from "Das automatische Reich" with Ralph Hammerthaler und Armin Grunwald
Karlstraße 9, 76133 Karlsruhe
In Ralph Hammerthaler’s abysmal novel of the future, the Earth has continued to heat up, robots have become integrated into society, and the first humans are landing on Mars. On the ruins of the EU, the authoritarian tri-state has emerged—relying heavily on technology. Opposing it are communities that practice a lifestyle and economic model based on self-restraint and sustainability.
Hammerthaler’s novel is enriched by contributions from researchers who reflect on the future distribution of natural resources, economic developments, and social configurations: Eileen Blum, Alena Buyx, Antje Boetius, Johannes Caspar, Aladin El-Mafaalani, Detlev Glanert, Armin Grunwald, Manfred Hild, Niko Paech,
and Ute Schmid.
At Karl9, the author will read from his work and engage in discussion with Armin Grunwald, head of ITAS.
