International Ranking: Employers Value KIT Degrees
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is among the universities with the most significant improvement in the current Global Employability University Ranking and Survey (GEURS) 2026: Ranked 70th globally, KIT has advanced 21 positions compared to the previous year and is described by the publishers as one of the “Top Climbers.“ The ranking identifies which universities are considered by employers to produce the most employable graduates. It is compiled by the Emerging Competence Center and published in collaboration with Times Higher Education (THE).
KIT also performs very well in the national comparison: It ranks fifth among all German universities and third within the TU9 group, the alliance of leading technical universities in Germany.
Practical Relevance and International Orientation as Success Factors
The GEURS ranking is based on 119,967 evaluations from 12,350 corporate representatives across 32 countries. It clearly shows that employers increasingly assess universities based on tangible outcomes and the teaching of practice-oriented competencies. Particularly in demand are verifiable skills, international orientation, and adaptability to the labor market.
According to GEURS, the most important evaluation criteria include career-relevant key competencies, social skills and leadership abilities, academic performance, and specialization. Internationality is highlighted as a key prerequisite for global employability.
The GEURS ranking is compiled annually by Emerging, a specialized competence center for knowledge and innovation in the field of employability, and is considered a globally recognized standard in this domain.
