Together with the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, the Orchestra of Change, and the Save the World initiative, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) sets an example for climate-friendly living with the campaign "No Silence Before the Storm - Days of Sustainability". In this context, leading climate researchers together with artists offer a program bringing together music, dance, and scientific lectures for children and adults. The event will take place April 22-24, 2023, at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe (Hermann-Levi-Platz 1, 76137 Karlsruhe, Germany).
"When it comes to avoiding and dealing jointly, constructively, and also creatively, with changes caused by the climate and biodiversity crisis as much as possible as a society, research and art - i.e., the Staatstheater Karlsruhe and KIT - are excellent allies," says Professor Kora Kristof, Vice President Digitalization and Sustainability at KIT. "Research helps us to understand what is happening and also shows us ways to act successfully - for example, through a more sustainable lifestyle, effective policies, or renaturation measures. Music and dance can help us deal with the concerns and fears for the future that the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss can trigger, and they can inspire us to take action."
Sonja Walter, head dramaturge of the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, emphasizes, "It is important to us to approach the topic of sustainability and climate change in as many ways as possible. Thanks to our collaboration with TRIANGEL and the nationwide Save the World association, the Staatstheater will be a place for the exciting encounter of art and science. Together, we are appealing to minds and hearts and acting on behalf of what is literally one of the most burning issues of our time."
