Urban construction is booming, urban population continues to grow. This results in increasing requirements. Which significance do cities have as centers of democracy, of citizen participation, and of political innovations? How accessible are they for minorities and parallel societies? How do they preserve their self-image against the background of increasing globalization? These questions will be covered by the 19th Karlsruhe Dialogs “Global DemocraCITIES: Between Triumph and Decline” from February 27 to March 01, 2015. The event will be organized by ZAK | Center for Cultural and General Studies of KIT and mark the start of the celebrations relating to the 300th anniversary of the city of Karlsruhe.
