For more than one year now, the universities in Baden-Württemberg have been negotiating with the State Ministry of Finance and the State Ministry of Science on a new Solidarpakt (solidarity agreement) for university funding from January 2015 to 2020. However, the state has not yet announced any concrete framework conditions. On the federal level, clear concepts for future funding of the universities are lacking. If basic funding of universities will not be improved significantly by a new Solidarpakt III, the difficult financial situation of the universities in Baden-Württemberg will even get worse. At the KIT, individual study programs and service offers would be threatened with closure.
In close partnership with society, KIT develops solutions for urgent challenges – from climate change, energy transition and sustainable use of natural resources to artificial intelligence, sovereignty and an aging population.
