Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is once again among Europe’s leading technical universities in the third edition of EngiRank. Among roughly 250 evaluated institutions from 36 countries, KIT ranks twelfth and is once again the third-best technical university in Germany.

KIT performs particularly well in three subject areas: In Materials Science and Engineering, it leads nationwide and ranks sixth in Europe. In Environmental Engineering, KIT holds seventh place in Europe and is among the top two German universities. In Medical Engineering, KIT underscores its interdisciplinary strength, ranking ninth in Europe and sharing second place nationwide.

Outstanding Research and Innovation Performance

KIT owes its top positions to excellent research and innovation achievements: high publication and citation rates, numerous patent applications, and close cooperation with industry underline its scientific strength.

The EngiRank ranking is published by the Perspektywy Education Foundation in Warsaw and supported by international partners, including the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and the IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, which was established in cooperation with the UNESCO European Centre for Higher Education.
