The mobility and production of the future will be sustainable, digital and efficient. This requires new technologies - for innovative vehicle drives, highly automated mobility systems or adaptable production processes and systems. In order to shape this change, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Stuttgart are pooling their expertise in research and transfer at the Innovation Campus Mobility of the Future (ICM) in order to develop new technologies quickly and flexibly, test new approaches and create the basis for innovations. The ICM significantly expands the innovation ecosystem in Baden-Württemberg and integrates a large number of other players from the Baden-Württemberg research landscape and industry. |

20.10.2025: Das Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) bleibt im aktuellen Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking stabil auf Rang 166 und bringt dabei in mehreren Bereichen hervorragende Ergebnisse hervor. Besonders erfreulich ist die Verbesserung beim Indikator „Lehre“, wo sich das KIT im weltweiten Vergleich auf Rang 147 um fast 50 Plätze im Vergleich zum Vorjahr steigern konnte.

12.10.2025: Am 26.11.2025 von 13 bis 16 Uhr findet im Audimax-Foyer die jährliche International Fair der KIT-Fakultät für Maschinenbau und der KIT-Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik statt. Dabei werden sowohl die fakultätseigenen Programme wie auch allgemeine Austausch- und Praktika-Möglichkeiten vorgestellt. Sie können direkt mit den Programmverantwortlichen an ihren Infoständen oder während der Vorträge im Seminarraum ins Gespräch kommen sowie sich mit ehemaligen Outgoing- und aktuellen Gaststudierenden austauschen.

08.10.2025: Den Verbrauch fossiler Brennstoffe zu senken – dazu könnte künftig ein neues Material in Flugzeugantrieben und Gasturbinen beitragen. Ein Team des KIT hat eine Refraktärmetall-Legierung mit neuartiger Kombination aus Chrom, Molybdän und Silizium entwickelt, die bei Raumtemperatur verformbar, mit einer Schmelztemperatur um 2 000 Grad Celsius auch bei großer Hitze stabil und dabei gleichzeitig oxidationsbeständig ist.

30.09.2025: Ein Forschungsteam des KIT und der Universität Freiburg entwickelt eine neue Simulationsmethode für Reibungsvorgänge auf der Ebene einzelner Moleküle. Dadurch lassen sich Reibungsvorgänge auf molekularer Ebene auf große Systeme übertragen. „So können wir komplexe Reibungssysteme, bei denen der entstehende Schmierfilm millionenfach dünner ist als die Kontaktbreite der Reibungsoberflächen, viel besser verstehen und berechnen“, so Prof. Gumbsch vom IAM.

31.08.2025: Successful Frederic-Joliot/Otto Hahn Summer School on Nuclear Reactors “Physics, Fuel and Systems” 30th Edition in Karlsruhe.
The 30th Edition of the FJOH-SS jointly organized by KIT and CEA took place in Geno Hotel Karlsruhe from August 20 to August 29, 2025. The topic was “Technological Development Path from Proven Designs to Advanced Modular Reactors”. It attracted 46 participants from 13 countries and different institutions (universities, industry, regulators, TSOs, research centres). In total sixteen experts from EU and abroad gave lectures about latest developments of their respective area of expertise related to the school’s topic and discussed it in-depth during the summer school.
21.08.2025: During the IEEE 21st International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, August 17-21 2025 in Los Angeles, Juniorprofessor Rania Rayyes (IFL) was awarded the IEEE Outstanding Women in Robotics and Automation (WiRA) award for her paper entitled “AI-based Framework for Robust Model-Based Connector Mating in Robotic Wire Harness Installation”.
07.08.2025: Zum ersten Mal fanden in diesem Jahr die Feierlichkeiten für das akademische Jahr 2024/2025 der beiden Fakultäten für Maschinenbau und für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik am gleichen Ort statt. So wurde der Maschinenbautag mit seinen beiden Teilen „Bachelor-Überreichung“ und „Fakultätskolloquium“ erstmals mit dem „Tag der Fakultät“ von der Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik im Audimax durchgeführt. In feierlichem Rahmen wurden Urkunden überreicht, Ehrungen vorgenommen und Preise verliehen. Wir gratulieren allen Absolvent*innen und Preisträger*innen ganz herzlich.
02.07.2025: Während des Upcell Alliance Events in Barcelona am 27. Juni erhielt Noah Keim für seine Doktorarbeit den „2025 Upcell Young Scientist Award“. Dieser Preis zeichnet die beste Dissertation mit einem Batteriebezug aus. Noah Keim vom IAM-ESS hat sich in seiner Arbeit mit der Prozessierung von umweltfreundlichen Bindern beschäftigt, die wässrig prozessiert werden können.
