For the third time in succession, the informatics program of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is ranked in first place in the university ranking of the WirtschaftsWoche magazine. This ranking is based on a survey of HR managers of large German enterprises. KIT’s programs of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and business engineering also reach excellent results and rank in second place. Natural sciences are third.

The Department of Informatics of KIT is the oldest of its kind in Germany. In 2012, it celebrates its 40th anniversary. Its roots in re-search and teaching date even further back. “I am proud that our graduates again are top this year,” says KIT President Professor Horst Hippler. “The good overall ranking does not only confirm our excellent education at KIT, which is close to research and practice, but it is also an incentive for constant further development.” This is the only way to guarantee that students are prepared best for their professional life and for the requirements of industry, economy, and science, according to Hippler.

The ranking is based on a survey among more than 500 HR man-agers of the largest German enterprises made by access KellyOCG and Universum. The focus lay on the practical relevance of educa-tion. Among others, the HR managers were asked to name the uni-versity from which they get the best graduates in their relevant pro-grams. In the overall ranking of all study programs evaluated, KIT is in third place.

Further information on the ranking is provided at www.wiwo.de. The complete results are published by the WirtschaftsWoche in its issue of Saturday, April 07.
