Kurzlebenslauf

Prof. Dr. Michael Decker is a professor of Technology Assessment and head of the division “Informatics, Economics and Society” at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

He studied physics and received a doctor’s degree in natural sciences from the University of Heidelberg. He obtained his habilitation at the University of Freiburg.

He is a full member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) and spokesperson of Netzwerk Technikfolgenabschätzung (NTA). He is head of the Advisory Board “Innovation- and Technlogy Analysis” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and of the Advisory Board “Technik im Dialog” of The Association of German Engineers (VDI).

His main areas of work are concepts of technology assessment, methodology of interdisciplinary research, and technology assessment of AI, robotics and nanotechnology.
