Der Chief Science Officer 3 (CSO-3) ist dem Vizepräsidenten für Forschung und Information Prof. Löhe zugeordnet. Er betreut die Fakultäten für Mathematik und Informatik sowie den KIT-Schwerpunkt COMMputation, hat Weisungsbefugnis für das HGF-Programm Supercomputing (SuCo) und nimmt die Linienverantwortung für das Institut IAI am Campus Nord und die zentralen Einrichtungen BIB, SCC und IMAG wahr.

Am 1. Oktober hat Professor Wilfried Juling, vormalig Geschäftsführender Direktor des SCC, sein Amt als hauptamtlicher Chief Information Officer und Chief Science Officer 3 angetreten.
Als CIO ist er KIT-weit für die technische, organisatorische und nutzungsrechtliche Integration und Koordination aller Aktivitäten in den Bereichen Information und Kommunikation sowie für den Einsatz neuer Informationstechnologien am KIT zuständig.
Als CSO-3 ist Prof. Juling dem Vizepräsidenten für Forschung und Information Prof. Löhe zugeordnet und wird die Fakultäten für Mathematik und Informatik betreuen. Ebenfalls liegt der KIT-Schwerpunkt COMMputation in seinem Verantwortungsbereich. Ferner hat er Weisungsbefugnis für das HGF-Programm Supercomputing (SuCo). Für das Institut IAI am Campus Nord und die zentralen Einrichtungen BIB, SCC und IMAG nimmt Prof. Juling die Linienverantwortung des Präsidiums wahr.
