In the near future, more than 7 billion people will need reliable energy supply – this challenge is faced by the KIT Energy Center. Its research covers seven topics, energy conversion, renewable energies, energy storage and distribution, efficient energy use, fusion technology, nuclear power and safety as well as energy systems analysis. With 1100 employees, the KIT Energy Center is one of the largest institutions active in energy research in Europe.
Following a general introduction to the structure, contents, and objectives of the KIT, the scientists from the KIT Energy Center will present their topics. The lord mayor of the city of Karlsruhe, Heinz Fenrich, and members of the KIT Executive Board, Professor Horst Hippler and Professor Eberhard Umbach, cordially invite the citizens of Karlsruhe to come to the city hall. In particular, pupils interested in studies in this field will be welcome. Following the presentations, a reception will provide opportunities for discussion and a look at the posters.
From June 02 –06, an exhibition will be organized by the KIT and the KIT Energy Center in the upper entrance hall of the city hall. The series of events of “University at the City Hall” with the faculties of the university having presented themselves since the 2002 summer semester is now followed by the series of “KIT at the City Hall”.
