Young Talent Promotion: Schroff Scholarships Awarded to Gifted Students

Since 2009, the Gunther Schroff Foundation's Scholarship for Gifted Students has supported particularly promising students in the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at KIT. During the course of their studies, recipients receive funding of up to 10,800 euros each. In the presence of Ingrid Schroff, Honorary Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and Honorary Senator of KIT, Susanne Schroff and Professor Thomas Böhlke of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics presented the scholarship certificates. In addition to outstanding academic performance, a strong commitment to society is a key criterion in the selection process.

Professor Thomas Hirth, KIT Vice President for Transfer and International Affairs, congratulated the students and praised their achievements. “Germany owes its economic strength to its talented young people,” said Hirth. He emphasized that talent is the country's greatest resource. “We are proud of you”, Hirth said, and thanked the Gunther Schroff Foundation for its dedicated support of students and for its longstanding support of KIT.

The Gunther Schroff Foundation for Scientific Purposes

Entrepreneurs Ingrid and Gunther Schroff established the foundation in the mid-1980s. The foundation is primarily active in the higher education sector. Its main areas of support include the establishment of innovative academic disciplines through endowed professorships, the promotion of international exchange among researchers, the advancement of early-career scientists through scholarships and awards, and the funding of student residences and meeting places that foster academic dialogue and scientific exchange.
