Wind power plants that resemble a planet system or rotate around a spanned rope? This is what the prototypes look like, which were built for the Germany-wide competition “Electricity Production by Wind Power” organized by the university group reech - renewable energy challenge e.V. of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The only requirement made is that rotating blades must not exceed 1.4 metres in diameter. On Friday, July 25, four teams will present their small wind power plants on KIT Campus South and test them in a wind channel. Journalists are cordially invited to come to these tests as well as to the final presentation and the awards ceremony in the Audimax.

Being “The Research University in the Helmholtz Association”, KIT creates and imparts knowledge for the society and the environment. It is the objective to make significant contributions to the global challenges in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. For this, about 10,000 employees cooperate in a broad range of disciplines in natural sciences, engineering sciences, economics, and the humanities and social sciences.
