Nuclear Safety Research Program

The Nuclear Safety Research Program studies scientific aspects of the safety of nuclear reactors and the safety of nuclear waste disposal. The results obtained from this work are implemented in the public interest so as to ensure a high safety standard of the nuclear facilities operated in Germany in the future and compliance with highest international requirements.
 
Long-term maintenance and constant development of competence in nuclear engineering are required for the operation of nuclear reactors, the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, and the disposal of radioactive waste and represent tasks that are specifically pursued by the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe..
