Scientific qualification and orientation

Studying focused

Upon completion of the PhD phase, the post-doctorate phase starts. It serves for scientific qualification and orientation concerning professional and qualification objectives and usually has a duration of two to four years.

In the junior post-doc phase, the first one to two years, young scientists are supported comprehensively by the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS). For example, KHYS awards grants for stays abroad. About 350 young scientists are presently in this first phase, about 30% of them come from abroad. Then, in the senior post-doc phase, support is granted by the KIT Research Office.
