System Design focuses on research in methods and engineering solutions to design complex systems including CAD/CAM tools, analytical and numerical simulation, probabilistic and sensitivity analysis methods. Embedded systems deal with systems in which a secondary functionality is embedded into a system with a different primary functionality. Examples are integrated functionality as in catalyst in heat exchanger, sensor integration in chemical reactors, integration of actuators in reactors, micro process engineering etc.
