Presidential Committee

KIT is managed by the collegial board named "Presidential Committee". Presidents Professor Dr. Horst Hippler and Professor Dr. Eberhard Umbach and the Vice Presidents Professor Dr. Detlef Löhe, Dr. Peter Fritz, and Dr. Alexander Kurz took office on October 01. The term of office is four years.  
 

Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board elects the full-time members of the Presiding Committee and adopts resolutions on the structural and development plan and on the planning of construction developments. The term of office of the Supervisory Board members is two years from October 01, 2009. The Chairman of the Supervisory Board is Professor Dr. Jürgen Mlynek, the President of the Helmholtz Association,  the Deputy Chairman is Dr. Andreas Kreimeyer, Member of the Board of BASF SE.  
 

Senate

The Senate confirms the election of full-time board members and issues an opinion on the structural and development plan as well as on the draft economic plan and the finance plan. The Senate of KIT is composed of the board members, the Gender Equality Officer and the ombudswoman for equal opportunities, 25 elected representatives from the university sector and 25 elected representatives from the large-scale research sector.  

 

Staff Council

The tasks of the KIT Staff Council are outlined in the Act on Representation of Staff of State Institutions. They include the control of the implementation of collective agreements and service agreements as well as the support of the integration of employees in need of protection and the securing of jobs. The Staff Council consists of a total of 37 members: 34 representatives of the employees and three representatives of civil servants.
